چکیده
A cornerstone of quantum mechanics is the characterization symmetries provided by Wigner's theorem. theorem establishes that every symmetry state space must be either a unitary transformation or an antiunitary transformation. Here we extend from states to evolutions, including both deterministic evolution associated with dynamics closed systems and stochastic evolutions outcomes measurements. We prove can decomposed into two are antiunitary. Building on this result, show it impossible time-reversal full set evolutions. Our no-go implies any time-symmetric formulation theory restrict allowed modify operational interpretation processes. propose where restricted suitable set, which includes projective measurements but excludes preparation pure states. The standard retrieved version introducing operation conditioning past experiments.

Discording power of quantum evolutions.
We introduce the discording power of a unitary transformation, which assesses its capability to produce quantum discord, and analyze in detail the generation of discord by relevant classes of two-qubit gates. Our measure is based on the Cartan decomposition of two-qubit unitaries and on evaluating the maximum discord achievable by a unitary upon acting on classical-classical states at fixed pur...
متن کاملControlled quantum evolutions and transitions
We study the nonstationary solutions of Fokker–Planck equations associated to either stationary or non stationary quantum states. In particular, we discuss the stationary states of quantum systems with singular velocity fields. We introduce a technique that allows arbitrary evolutions ruled by these equations to account for controlled quantum transitions. As a first signficant application we pr...
متن کاملQuantum random walks and piecewise deterministic evolutions.
In the continuous space and time limit, we show that the probability density to find the quantum random walk (QRW) driven by the Hadamard "coin" solves a hyperbolic evolution equation similar to the one obtained for a random two-velocity evolution with spatially inhomogeneous transition rates between the velocity states. In spite of the presence of a nonlinear drift term, it is remarkable that ...

متن کاملSuperadiabatic Controlled Evolutions and Universal Quantum Computation
Adiabatic state engineering is a powerful technique in quantum information and quantum control. However, its performance is limited by the adiabatic theorem of quantum mechanics. In this scenario, shortcuts to adiabaticity, such as provided by the superadiabatic theory, constitute a valuable tool to speed up the adiabatic quantum behavior. Here, we propose a superadiabatic route to implement un...
